My project supports: Wreaths for our Veterans

We want to raise money to purchase wreaths for the graves of Veteran’s at Andersonville National Cemetery, which is home to the National Prisoner of War Museum. This is a special place for our family, as it houses some of the items our Granddaddy Bill brought home with him from his time in the Prison Camp during the Korean War. He spent around 2-1/2 years in a prison camp, marching around 1000 miles in 3 months. During his time as a POW he learned as much as he could about his captors, and by acting “crazy” he was able to do things in the camps that saved men’s lives. He was a recipient of The Purple Heart, and he was our hero and our Great Grandfather.  We love to honor veterans in his memory, so to honor his birthday this year we will raise money to buy wreaths for the soldiers resting in a place that meant so much to Granddaddy Bill.  It’s our way of keeping the promise to “Never Forget.”   Our goal is to raise enough money to buy 100 wreaths through Wreaths Across America.
