The State of the Union

Welcome to the first State of the Union, Kids Boost style.  Pretty exciting, right?!

It’s amazing what can happen in a year. This time last year, I was begging kids to participate in Kids Boost.  I think I had 200 likes on Facebook and we had raised about a thousand dollars total.  Fast forward to today and I have a stack of applications and a waiting list for kids who want to be a part of this movement.  35 Kids Boosters raised money for 23 non-profit organizations.  Oh and we are about to hit 1000 likes on Facebook.

This is our first Kids Boost check presentation, thanks to sweet Madison!

Ready for this?!? Kids Boosters turned $2,300 of general fund donations into more than $45,000 to help non-profit organizations.  That’s a 1793% return on investment!  And this was done because of kids using their gifts, talents and passions to make a difference in the world!

And we’re just getting started.

These numbers not only reflect the hard work and determination of those 35 kids, but also the support and generosity of donors.  Without donations to the Kids Boost general fund, we would not be able to do what we do every day.

Today I need your help in a big way.  As exited as I am to share all of that wonderful news, I also need to share that Kids Boost is in a critical need for support right now. In order to maintain and grow our program, we need donations more than ever.  As a one-man-show (okay, one-woman-show), we need to grow the team.  Can you imagine how many kids and non-profits we could reach with another employee?  But the truth is that without support, we won’t be able to sustain what we have going on now, much less grow the program.

I’m going to shoot it to you straight.  I need to raise $50,000 over the next 3 months in order to continue. I know, that’s a lot of money.  We need to secure funding for things like materials for kids, start-up funds for kids and background checks for volunteers.  We also need funding for administrative costs including payroll, website, certifications, government requirements and so forth.  If we do not secure this funding, we will not be able to continue our mission.

So today, I ask you for your help.  Would you consider making a donation to Kids Boost? It can be a one-time give or a recurring monthly donation. Even a $10 per month recurring donation would cover the cost of the start-up money for a Kids Booster.  And that’s HUGE for us!

Kids Boost was started and is surviving because of individual donations. No donation is too small but every donation is appreciated more than you could possibly know.  If you donate to the general fund, I promise you will see where your money goes.  Not only will your money help important non-profit organizations, but it will also impact the life of a child.  You will help a child learn the importance of philanthropy while learning important life lessons… and all while realizing how they can use their talent and passion to make a difference.

Will you help Kids Boost? Will you help me ensure that our mission continues? Will you play a part in our success?

Thank you friends for celebrating our successes and for ensuring a bright future! I wish I had words to adequately express my gratitude. I am confident that we will raise the money and I am confident that my next “State of the Union” will be even better!
